In a recent announcement, Stetson University’s Director of Athletics, Jeff Altier, revealed a leadership shift in the women’s soccer program. Current Head Coach Chris Bergmann has decided to step down from his role after five years of dedicated service to pursue new opportunities. The 2023 season concluded with Stetson holding a 3-12-3 overall record, narrowly missing the ASUN Championship. Bergmann expressed gratitude for his time at Stetson and cited a desire to explore different avenues that would afford him more time with his family.

The Conclusion of the 2023 Season

Stetson’s women’s soccer program, established in 1993, boasts an overall record of 200-310-46. The recently concluded season, however, marked a transition point. The team finished 9th, narrowly missing the ASUN Championship, which would have been a historic moment in Bergmann’s coaching tenure.

    Bergmann’s Reflections and Future Endeavors

Expressing appreciation for his time at Stetson, Bergmann acknowledged the university’s support during his five-year coaching journey. Having dedicated over two decades to the coaching world, he has chosen to redirect his focus to explore new opportunities that allow for increased family time. Bergmann’s decision reflects not only his commitment to the coaching profession but also his prioritization of personal and familial aspects of life.

    Jeff Altier Acknowledges Bergmann’s Contributions

Director of Athletics Jeff Altier extended his gratitude to Chris Bergmann, recognizing the coach’s five years of service and commitment to Stetson University. Altier conveyed his best wishes to Bergmann in his pursuit of new opportunities, acknowledging the contributions made during Bergmann’s tenure.

The Legacy of Stetson Women’s Soccer

As the program enters a new chapter, it does so with a legacy shaped by years of competition and growth. Since its inception in 1993, Stetson women’s soccer has played a pivotal role in the university’s athletic landscape. With an overall record of 200-310-46, the program stands as a testament to the dedication and effort invested by both coaching staff and players.

Looking Ahead: A New Era for Stetson Women’s Soccer

With Chris Bergmann’s departure, the women’s soccer program at Stetson University is poised for a new era under different leadership. The university, known for its commitment to athletic excellence, will embark on the search for a new head coach to guide the team into future seasons. As the Hatters transition, the broader Stetson community eagerly anticipates the unfolding of a fresh chapter in the rich history of women’s soccer at the university.
