Sarina Wiegman, England’s head coach, has unveiled her squad for the upcoming international showdowns with Belgium in the UEFA Women’s Nations League. The Lionesses are gearing up for a double-header against Belgium’s Red Flames, and Wiegman’s selection showcases a strong representation from Manchester United and Manchester City.

Leading the charge for Manchester United is goalkeeper Mary Earps, fresh from her 100th appearance for the club. The squad also features the club’s captain, Katie Zelem, midfielder Ella Toone, and defender, Maya Le Tissier. These talented individuals proudly represent the red side of Manchester, contributing to England’s depth and skill.

On the blue side of Manchester, a formidable contingent from Manchester City will be gracing the England squad. The star-studded City players include Alex Greenwood, Esme Morgan, Lauren Hemp, Chloe Kelly, and Jess Park. Notably, goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck has also earned her spot in the lineup despite not featuring for Gareth Taylor’s side this season. Joining her is fellow City goalkeeper Khiara Keating, who has showcased her prowess in the Women’s Super League (WSL) this season, earning her well-deserved maiden senior England call-up.

The Lionesses hold the third spot in Nations League Group A, following a narrow 2-1 defeat against the Netherlands in their previous encounter. Nevertheless, Wiegman’s squad is gearing up for a triumphant return to winning form as they prepare to face Belgium at the King Power Stadium on Friday, October 27.

The action doesn’t stop there. England will have a swift rematch against the Belgian Red Flames on Tuesday, October 31, at Den Dreef Stadium in Leuven. The inaugural Women’s Nations League is not just a tournament in its own right; it also plays a pivotal role in determining the league positions for the Euro 2025 qualifiers.

Furthermore, the two teams that advance to the final of the Nations League will secure a coveted spot in the 2024 Women’s Olympic Football Tournament. Alongside host nation France, they will compete on the grand stage, making the journey to the Olympics a dream within reach for these skilled athletes.

As the Lionesses gear up to face Belgium in this thrilling double-header, fans will eagerly watch the performance of these Manchester stars who promise to be key contributors in their quest for victory.
